Tonight apple will unveil iPhone 5 , iPod, iCloud.  India will launch its $35 tablet after some hours, indeed it will be the cheapest tablet in the world. According to Datawind, maker of tablet, it will be on shelves this december.  Datawind earlier launched  Netbook in India with Tata-Indicom’s free internet access for 1 year.  Schools will be the initial consumer of this subsidized tablet. Its hasn’t given any name, but we can call it “cheepu” or  ”nano”

Years back there were speculation of “one laptop per child” , lots of biggies like intel were in the initial project, later on they back-out fearing it will reduce the consumption of their products. so project could not materialized. But if this $35 tablet gets good response. it will be good news then we can say “one tablet per child”.  It should also have 150 MB of free data per month then it will really penetrate the digital divide in india.

The tablet, will run on Google Android, WiFi connectivity, 256 MB  RAM, a 2GB SD memory card, a 32 GB expandable memory slot and two USB ports. No specs about display are out, but with such a less cost tablet we can expect a low resolution display.

After Apple’s trend setter iPad launched every micro to big companies wants share of this market. Free android gave hardware companies very good platform to launch the tablet, now companies just get bulk order from china-make tablets and stick their own brand on it. If you are good you can capture the market anytime because tables are evolving very fast, every second year they get much hardware/software refresh that everybody want to get new one.

But as its Anroid app but we will not compare Cheepu to any other available table in world

1)Webos
2)IOS
3)Anroid
4) Windows

Amazon also launched Kindle Fire android based tabed for $199 to capture the market, Amazon already have content for the table, Amazon android store. So they just needed a device to consume that. because Apple was charging 30% of share in this thin profit market.

Love to see this “cheepu” ,  i will also buy it for my relatives.
