Undo/recall sent emails with Gmail labs

Gmail is becoming useful day by day. With its Labs feature its enhancing it. you can find a lots of extension/add-ons  in labs section.
but “Undo  send” is very good extension, it lets you undo your sent mail, but not exactly recall as it do before going in to destination’s inbox.
How it works

When you send an email, you get a message confirming it has been sent, along with a link to “Undo.” you have only 5 seconds to press undo link. after that it will disappear and mail will left the server to destination.
but its very useful.  it saved me from embarrassment many times.

you have to enable this feature as it do not come  pre-enabled

click on following link or see green icon near “sign out” click on it or under settings you will see labs. it will show you various extensions. just click on enable radio button and save.

How to set Google talk’s status from Window Media player songs.

when you set “Show current music track” from your gtalk. you want the status as playing song on your computer.

Winamp do it by default. But in Window media player(if its not setting the status),

open Window media player

press alt+T

Select tools->plugin->options

now in category section(on left) select the background.

if you can see as follow.

Other wise close the Gtalk and media player. If  you have the latest Gtalk setup else download it. Right click on the

setup file. choose “run as administrator”. if you are not admin it will ask for admin password. Run it.  it will

automatically install the plugin. open the WMP and now check according the above steps. it will resolve the issue.

Manage your calender via SMS; Free meeting, birthday and anniversary reminder

This time do not feel embarrassed when you forgot your wife’s or girlfriend’s birthday’s anniversary or listen to boss’  words when forgot to attend the meeting.  I used to forgot all my friends birthday. but not now, but how, Google calender is here to rescue.

Lets start with the Birthday Anniversary  - > open www.google.com/calendar. if you are first time user it will ask for your country. select country and go ahead. now you will see a new window and a link “Create Event” on top of left side bar. click on it. you will see following window

Note: Before setting SMS, Google required you to register your mobile no with them. only after that SMS option will be enabled. To register your mobile,  in left panel below “My calenders” click on the “settings” then  mobile setup. register your mobile according to instructions.

Just enter the content and in options section set the Reminder, SMS or Email. SMS (Free) is better as mobile is always with you.  enter the time when you want to remind you with SMS  i.e. 5 hour before, 10 mins before etc.

Orkut and Google calender. Orkut will automatically shows you a Orkut friends calender on your profile page. It contains the birthday of all of friends who’s birthday are visible(you can also hide your bday on orkut). just click on it it will import the  calender to your Google calender application. But imported are read only, for doing any change you have to copy the required event to your own google calender,.

click on the “Orkut calender” in left panel.
Now click on “Agenda” its near start of right panel
Now all anniversaries will be displayed
Click on particular, it will open a sub section,
Now click select copy to my calender option
It will open a new window. there are two section, in second section (Options) you will see  SMS section. just set at time you want reminder of birthday. like before 1 hour, before 1 day, before 10 mins.

using this you will never forget any birthday or anniversary.

Gmail:Import mail & contacts from hotmail,yahoo,rediff or others

Now need not to login to multiple account to see achieved mails or new mails. You can manage all of your webmail account using Gmail.  Gmail is continuously innovating its features and marching ahead from its competitors. One of the new feature of it which will give you more  control over you all accounts. With new feature you can import all of your mails & contacts from other email-accounts into your single gmail account and can save hours of your time.

How can you do that.

login to your account on top-right you will see this. if you unable to see this, means service is not available in your country.click on the “Import mail & contact”, a new window/tab will open

enter your email account from which you want to import, and click on continue, now it will ask for the password , enter the password and click next , you will be on following window.

here you can select you choice,

Import mail: select it if you want to import mail.

leave a copy: select if you dont want to delete the mail on after import
archive: they will not be displayed in main inbox, rather in archive
Add label: must select this, as it will make you easy to find your mail.

click on start import button, gmail will start importing, but it may take some time before mail start appearing in your inbox or achieve box. so RIP , rest of web mail services.

so you import from various popular account, hotmail, yahoo, aol, rediffmail.

Note: this service is not for people who got gmail account from Google Apps customers account. they have different way to do that.

Use single Gmail id as multiple e-mail aliases

Gmail username/email-id can be used as virtually unlimited multiple email-ids. Yes the mail will be dropped to your single gmail box.
now no need of multiple gmail-ids for different purposes. you can extend you existing gmail ids.

Firefox private information leak bug

]I found a very unique bug on the firefox and chrome. If you are not careful you can leak you information to somebody.  That could be dangerous according to type of information. If you are  using internet on public computer always clear your browsing history before leaving the place else you can leave your footprint behind for somebody to chase you.
